Many parents are spending these last few days before school begins getting all the last minute school supplies organized, buying those few things that got missed during the first shopping trip, and doing extra baking and food prep to have healthy lunch options on hand for all those school lunches that they will be packing. Although I am usually the type of person who LOVES to play ahead and likes to have everything organized and ready to go in advance, I will admit that this year I have fallen behind a little! There are still a few things on my to-do list that need to be organized, bought or done before we are officially ready to begin another school year. I guess that is what the long weekend will be for, right?! *wink*
We have come across a few new items this year that will help to make lunches easier. All Things Being Eco is a fabulous eco-chic lifestyle boutique that is filled to the brim with all kinds of great items! A few of these items include some wonderful back to school litterless lunch ideas. The first one is a PackIt lunch bag. Of all the lunch bags we've ever used, this is our favorite one. Hands down! It a freezable lunch bag that will keep your child's lunch cold for 10 hours without a fridge. In other words, it is a freezable personal cooler that looks like a regular lunch bag. It fits easily into our backpacks and has more than enough space to pack a good sized lunch with sandwiches, snacks, fruit, muffins, etc. in it. The PackIt lunch bag has a patented eco-gel built permanently into the liner and once frozen it will keep a lunch cool for a loooong time (up to 10 hours in fact!) A few of my favorite features of the PackIt lunch bag are:
~ NO need for bulky (& heavy) ice packs - this leave more room for food & snacks too. (The lunch kit is slightly heavier than other regular lunch bag due to the eco-gel inside, but it is easily manageable - even for a younger child!)
~ When food is left out at room temperature, bacteria multiplies quickly...but that is not an issue with this lunch bag as the food is kept at a cooler temperature to prevent spoilage.
~ Even food that your child doesn't eat at lunch will come home fresh and safe for using the next day.
~ The PackIt makes it easy to pack healthy lunches!
~ It is PVC/lead free, non-toxic, lead-tested, earth safe and reusable!
We found that the PackIt was easy to use, high quality and definitely ranks as our favorite lunch bag out of all the ones we have collected thus far. Best of all, us parents do not have to worry about food safety - we can be certain that our kids will be getting a healthy, safe lunch every day!
Next, we'd love to share a little product that will fit very nicely inside your PackIt lunch bag! The Keep Leaf sandwich wrapper/placemat is a great little lunch accessory that you'll love having on hand for your kids' lunches. It is the perfect way to keep sandwiches fresh. I really love that it is reusable and machine washable. Not only does this save the environment (no more baggies!) but it all saves money as you will not need to be continually purchasing plastic baggies. The wrapper also is very durable and All Things Being Eco has loads of fun designs to choose from - for both boys and girls! The Keep Leaf sandwich wrapper can also be used as a placemat which is a big bonus for us. It give kids a clean place to put their sandwich or their food instead of on desks or tables that may not be completely clean.
Between the PackIt lunch bag, the Keep Leaf sandwich wrapper and a few other things like a reusable water bottle, we are ready for some wonderful, safe, and litterless lunches this year. All Things Being Eco has a few other great options for back to school lunches as well. Be sure to take a peek at the cute snack bags...they are really fun!
