We love to be creative in our home! Whether that means creating crafts out of recycled items or dreaming up and building our own brand-new Lego creations, we can't deny that being creative is just plain FUN! Our son is definitely the one who will spend hours with his Lego blocks, creating and building, so when we heard about the Lego Build-It Book we were immediately interested. Nathanael Kuipers and Mattia Zamboni put their minds and talents together and came up with a the Lego Build-It Book, Vol. 1, Amazing Vehicles, and our oldest has really been enjoying building the vehicles that are featured in the book.
This is not just a Lego book with cool pictures though. It has complete instructions to build 10 models - all with just one collection of Lego bricks. We have a nice selection of Lego kits already in our home, so our son immediately went digging through his collections and boxes of Lego and found all the necessary pieces needed to start building the vehicles featured in this book. I loved that you really didn't need that many bricks to build each project, and the fact that we had almost all of them (if not ALL of them!) in our home already was a huge plus. First up? The Rescue Truck! Our son disappeared into his room and a while later proudly showed us the Rescue Truck he had created using this book.
Some of the other models include a Go-Kart, Muscle Car, Stroller, Classic Car, Street Rod, Wheel Loader, and more. It is a great fit for a vehicle-loving, Lego-loving child. The book also features quite a few handy tips and advance building techniques that will inspire you and your children to continue creating and make their own, brand new, amazing models! We loved that it encouraged creativity and imagination. One of the goals of the authors is to help readers learn to be creative and provide them with the right techniques to build endless models from only a simply collection of bricks. You don't have to have a lot of expensive Lego sets to build these vehicles, and once you see how much you can make out of only a few bricks, you will likely be inspired to keep on building with those bricks! I'm amazed at the the things our son has come up with out of just a few Lego bricks (one of the more recent creations was a Lego Bow & Arrow that actually shoots!)
The Lego Build-It Book, Amazing Vehicles is printed in full color pages, on quality paper and will certainly last a lot longer than the paper instructions that come with most Lego kits! It would make a great back-to-school gift, or even a great gift for other occasions as well.
Pssst! The story doesn't end here! There is a 2nd volume of the Lego Build-It book coming out next month (September 2013). It will use the same collection of bricks as this volume but will introduce 10 more NEW and exciting models to build. The skies the limit when it comes to what you can make out of those Lego bricks!
